Tips to Improve your Mind and Body

Your mind is one of the most important aspects of your body. Only with a clear and strong mind will you be able to embark on a strong and healthy body. So how do you improve your mind and body? Is it even possible to do so? Well, read the rest of the article to find out how you can do just that.

How to Improve your Mind and Body

Here are crucial tips to enhance your efforts in strengthening your mind, visual brain and overall memory, and get your body to better health.

Get to Bed and Have a Good Night’s Sleep

It is very important that you get sufficient sleep and rest every day. Wherever possible, try to ensure that you clock at least 6 to 8 hours of sleep each and every day. Not only will this improve your energy levels throughout the day, it will also enhance your ability to focus for longer periods of time when needed. In addition, it will get your mind active in producing creative ideas when required, and improve your overall health.

Carry out Cardio-Intensive Exercises

Aerobics and any cardio-intensive exercises, especially swimming, not only improves overall health and fitness, it builds your brainpower as well – the more oxygen gets to your brain, the better you will be at thinking, remembering and concentrating. And notwithstanding, you will improve your metabolism rate, and burn calories more easily. Here are some examples:

  • Climbing staircases
  • Swimming
  • Jogging
  • Skipping
  • Running

These are all great cardio-intensive exercises you can undertake to improve overall mind-body well-being. Do remember to wear a good pair of sneakers when you are exercising though. (except swimming, of course).

Rinse and Repeat
Repetition and review is the oldest tip from the mind and health improvement textbook, and it still works. Repeat your exposure to new sleeping and cardio exercise techniques, and keep reviewing what you have learned after a few days, weeks and months of learning it. Avoid forcing yourself to cram all the techniques and exerting your mind and body all in a day. Instead, spread out your routine, especially your exercise ones, over a span of time in a day, week and month.

Visualise your Ideal Healthy Mind and Body
Use visualisation techniques and spend at least a few minutes a day visualizing the near and distant future of your ideal healthy mind and body. Visualize the outcomes that you want at the end of the day, or at the end of a certain period of time. The clearer and more vivid your visualizations are, the more well-equipped you will be to achieve them.

  • Visualize your failure if you don’t act to motivate you to move away from it (PAIN).
  • Visualize your future success to motivate you to move towards it (PLEASURE).
  • Visualize yourself doing and completing all the necessary actions to get you moving closer to your ideal healthy mind and body.

One technique to enhance your visualization is to describe out loud in vivid, sensory detail the above imaginary scenes, as if you were a reporter who is really there, LIVE at the scene. Once you are done with your visualisation, take a deep and full breath, slowly regain awareness of your surroundings and with a count of 1 to 10, gently open your eyes.
